The juarjal duck (in Peru) or outcropping duck (Anas specularioides), also considered by some writers of the genre Lophonetta (Lophonetta specularioides) is a species of bird anseriformes own family Anatidae South America, distributed by Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.
Characteristics:
The total length is 51-61 cm. The male, larger than the female, weighs between 1,100 and 1,200 g. It has a sharp tail, although the female is less acute than the male.
Creston duck is stained ocher brown color, with lighter belly and rump. It has a wide crown (except the front) and mild dark nuchal crest. It is modest, except flight tones, in which a black and white mirror can be seen. The iris of the eye is red.
Its a surly kind, and has a bark like a song.
Subspecies:
Anas alticola specularioides; Andean duck outcropping. He lives in the Andes, from Peru and Bolivia to northern Chile and Argentina.
Anas specularioides specularioides; Crested Duck south. Nests south of Chile, Argentina and the Falkland Islands. During the winter this subspecies is moved along both coasts to the north, reaching the center of Chile and Argentina.
