This is one of the best known birds of Chile, because it inhabits the entire territory from Atacama to Tierra del Fuego and the islands of the Juan Fernández archipelago; and from the coast up to 2,000 meters high towards the mountain range. Very abundant, except in the northern zone, Coquimbo and Atacama, where it finds food only in the valleys.
Something similar to the Tenca (Mimus thenca), is distinguished from this by having a heavier and dark body, by the shorter tail and by its characteristic strong yellow color.
