The fox of the Pampas has a coat of short tense hair, gray on the back and legs. The head and neck are reddish, triangular, wide and relatively large ears (like Cichi): reddish on the outside and white on the inside. They weigh 4 to 5 kg. It has between 2 to 6 young.

Live in a wide variety of environments, especially open, such as steppes, meadows, and savannahs, avoiding forests and thick forests; very adapted to altered environments, its presence is frequent in rural and suburban areas. From sea level to 5000 meters high.
