Ruins of Tiwanaku and Puma Punku
Tiwanaku is 72 km from La Paz, the trip goes through the Bolivian highlands, where you can see the way of life of the Aymaras. Tiwanaku was one of the oldest centers of the American culture, whose dating in Carbon 14 places on average between 1,580 BC and 1,150 AD.
It is considered the birthplace of the American man and one of the most developed cultures in his time.
Its main buildings are: Kalasasaya temple with its most notable work in the Puerta del Sol, Ponce and Fraile monoliths; the pyramid of Akapana and the semi-subterranean temple.
Then visit the town of Tiwanaku with its beautiful colonial church, where you can see the use of stones from the ruins in its construction. Also the temple of Puma Punku where they used the biggest and highest quality stones in the carving in andesite and sandstone of the ruins.
Visit the 2 site museums, to see their work in ceramics and stone.
