Tijuca National Park Hike, Rio de Janeiro
On this tour you can walk in the main sector of the Tijuca National Park and see the most important attractions such as the Taunay waterfall (35m and highest in the park), the Job de Alcántara bridge, built in 1860 and used in the movie Hulk , the Mayrink Chapel and the Visitors Center. Afterwards, our team will take you on a short descending walk on a rugged trail through a denser part of the rainforest, experience nature and the tropical rainforest in its exuberant beauty reaching the Mirador de la Casacada, 525m above sea level from sea.
The path crosses the forest of Tijuca, the largest urban forest on the planet with 10 times the size of Central Park (New York). During the trip you will discover the history of the Floresta de Tijuca, its replacement by coffee haciendas and later reflorestation in the 19th century and also the history of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
After the walk there is the opportunity to swim in a river.
Bring: water (1.5 liters / person), fruits, sandwiches, sunscreen and insect repellent, small backpack (to keep your hands free). Towel and swimsuit to swim to the river.
