The Peacock stands out for the polychrome fan that constitutes the tail of the males.
The peacock is native to southern Asia, found throughout the Indian subcontinent and in dry areas of Sri Lanka.
They live in both humid and dry deciduous forests, but adapt to life in crop regions and around human populations, often where water is available.
 The male of this species has a length between 100-115 cm from the beak to the tail, reaching 195-225 cm to the end of the long specialized feathers that make up the fan - secondary school - when fully developed. Its weight is 4-6 kg. The female is smaller, with a length of about 95 cm and a weight of 2.75-4 kg.
