Laguna Chaxa is part of the
Los Flamencos National Reserve and is located 50 km south of San Pedro de Atacama and 7 km from
Toconao.
The Chaxa Lagoon is 2300 meters above sea level, it is a shallow Altiplanica lagoon which makes it a privileged place to see Flamingos in their natural state.
The lagoon allows the proliferation of microscopic and microinvertebrate forms, the basis of the diet of the family of the flamingos and other birds that live or transit through Chaxa.
